Chronic stress can wreak havoc on your mind and body. Mayo Clinic
Stress is a general term referring to anything that puts a strain or pressure on your body. It can come from external sources like your work pressure, caring for loved ones, or the weather. Stress can also come from internal sources like worrying about finances, feeling angry, or dealing with a chronic illness.
Seventy-five percent to 90% of all doctor's office visits are for stress-related ailments and complaints.
"EFT is a simple, powerful process that can profoundly influence gene activity, health, and behavior." Bruce Lipton, PhD Author of Biology of Belief
Stress triggers your sympathetic nervous system. That’s the system controlling your fight-or-flight-or-freeze response. When you’re stressed, the sympathetic nervous system sends biochemical signals to your heart and brain.
Remember how stress shoots your cortisol levels up? One of cortisol’s jobs is to keep inflammation in check and regulate the immune responses. With so much cortisol flooding your body, your tissues become desensitized to it. You may notice allergy symptoms worsening or that you get colds easily and they last longer. In time, a weakened immunity and high inflammation levels put you at higher risk of stress-related diseases including cardiovascular disease, asthma, diabetes, and gastrointestinal issues.
EFT and Reiki reset your body’s stress response to calm your adrenal glands so that your cortisol levels drop back to normal levels. This enables your immune system to strengthen and your inflammation levels to drop back down to healthier levels.
When you’re under constant stress, it weakens brain circuits, which makes it difficult for your prefrontal cortex to regulate how much pain you feel. Fear, depression and anxiety are the sorts of stressors that can weaken these brain circuits, which makes the brain generate pain—even though you don’t have an injury.
EFT and Reiki reset your body’s stress response so that your brain circuits can strengthen. Then your prefrontal cortex can work normally again, so the pain is reduced or eliminated.
